Robbie Lawrence, a Scottish photographer who lives between London and Berlin, was interested in our Portraits de Villes collection and exchanged regularly with our studio.
We already had great admiration for his work, reputation and appearances in publications around the world before Robbie came to meet us in Paris. The strength of his pictures lies in the interplay of light and shadow, a saturation that exposes the subject, embellishes color and brings precision and great poetry to each of his images.
Robbie had just come back from a trip to Freetown, Sierra Leone for the UNFPA (United Nation Population Fund). His extremely moving and powerful work uncovered the daily life of the people of Sierra Leone, the lives of young people and women in particular and the conditions under which they lived.
The book was published in association with the United Nations, to support women and family planning in the country.
